In your letter dated March 8, 1994, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

* Eucalytus essential oil is subject to a temporary modification of the provisions in the tariff schedule established pursuant to trade legislation. Eucalyptus essential oil is covered under 9903.10.34 which provides for a rate of duty of 2.1 percent ad valorem. The effective period ends at the close of December 31, 1994.

Your inquiry does not provide enough information for us to give a classification ruling on Elemi Oil (canarium species), under the HTS. Your request for a classification ruling should include a flow chart showing the manufacturing process, and a clarification as to whether the product is an extracted or prepared oleoresin, or whether it has been further processed and distilled to produce an essential oil.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have already been filed, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction.
